In my journal at the beginning of this year I wrote out some aspirations, commitments, and goals for the year in a personal quest to keep myself on my toes and continue learning. One of my goals was getting into a headstand (without the support of a wall) by the end of the year. Here's to baby steps and surprises...because it's barely the end of January and I did it! I honestly thought I needed to build my shoulder and arm muscles and strengthen those abdominals for lower body support before I could experience the bliss of this inversion sans a wall. This is what I love about yoga. With commitment, discipline, and a dedicated practice, in an almost magical way, any pose is conquerable. The body has astonishing power, knowledge and capability. When it comes to facing physical challenges (or frankly any type of challenge) it's the mind that usually holds you back. You hesitate because of fear, you have doubts due to insecurities. Behind all that illusion is intuition and the faith you put into your body's potential. Faith in possibility.
So for anyone disbelieving they'll ever get into a crow pose or headstand or any pose they're struggling with, get it out of your head. You will. I promise, one day, your body will surprise you. And I'd LOVE to hear about it ....because that is inspiration.
As you reach one goal, you make room for another. Now onto those handstands!
and a gorgeous one! xo

yay - gorgeous. you're about to open up a whole new element in your practice with inversions. I finally got into Kapotasana last night. Getting out, well that was a different story. For next time!
