From Tao Te Ching by Stephen Mitchell
If you realize all things change,
there is nothing you will try to hold on to.
If you aren't afraid of dying,
There is nothing you can't achieve.
Trying to control the future
is like trying to take the master carpenter's place.
When you handle the master carpenter's tools,
chances are that you'll cut yourself.
Change is probably the most difficult concept for me to embrace. Lately, however, when I have a really bad day or things just aren't going the way I'd like them to, I remind myself that the only constant is change and I begin to feel better. There's something truly beautiful about the fact that life is in constant motion. It continually evolves. It's topsy turvy. It's fluid. As much as I like to hold on to certain moments, I remind myself to be fully present in them and receive each detail. This, I have found, enriches the experience, as fleeting as it may be. I know in my heart more of them will come, if I let them. .....And when I realize I don't have control over a situation, I let go and let fate take over with the faith and trust that everything is as it should be.
